I’ve been working with Japanese paper yarn, OJO+, for a couple years now.
Here is my new collection with the paper yarn: LIGHTS
* OJO+ :
It is made from Manila hemp. A unique Japanese paper making method is used to make it into yarn.
In old days, people used to make paper from MITSUMATA, KOUZO or LINEN, and then slit it into thin tape yarn and finally twist it into yarn. It was called SHOHSENSHI. In this 21st century this natural eco-friendly paper yarn is in the spotlight again. As the manufacturing process of paper yarn is definitely different from that of conventional spun yarn or filament yarn, it should be called “The Third Way of Manufacturing Fiber.
